Frequently asked questions
Straightforward answers about planning your landscaping or home-improvement project with Bartec Landscape & Build.
Getting started
Do you provide free quotes?
Yes. Tell us about the work you have in mind and BARTEC will discuss the project before preparing a free quote for the agreed scope.
Which areas do you cover?
BARTEC primarily works across North Somerset and surrounding areas, including Weston-super-Mare, Banwell and Sandford. Suitable projects further towards Bristol and Yate may also be considered. Send your postcode and project details to check coverage.
What should I send when I enquire?
A short description of what you would like to achieve, your postcode and a few photographs are a useful starting point. Include approximate measurements if you have them, but you do not need a finished design before getting in touch.
Can you help if I am unsure what I need?
Yes. BARTEC can discuss your priorities, the space available and practical options to help you decide on an approach.
How long will my project take?
Timescales depend on the size of the project, site conditions, materials and the work involved. BARTEC will discuss an expected programme once the scope is understood.
Can I contact you about work that is not listed on the website?
Yes. Send the details and BARTEC will let you know whether the project is a suitable fit.
Gardens, patios and driveways
Can you transform an existing garden or landscape a new-build garden?
Yes. BARTEC works on existing gardens and new-build outdoor spaces, helping bring together elements such as paving, lawns, paths and boundaries around how you want to use the garden.
Can landscaping include paving, fencing and timber features?
Yes. These elements can be considered together as part of a wider garden project. The quote will set out the work agreed for your space.
How do I choose between porcelain and natural stone paving?
The best choice depends on the appearance you want, your budget and how the space will be used. Porcelain often suits a consistent, contemporary finish, while natural stone offers variation in colour and texture. BARTEC can discuss suitable options for your project.
Can you help me choose materials and finishes?
Yes. BARTEC can talk through options for paving, driveway finishes and other agreed elements, considering appearance, practicality and budget.
How are materials supply and existing-surface removal handled?
These arrangements should be agreed as part of the project scope. Tell BARTEC what is already in place and whether you have chosen any materials, so the quote can make clear what is included.
What about uneven ground, levels and drainage?
These are important considerations when planning outdoor work. BARTEC will discuss the existing space and how levels, access and water movement affect the proposed work. Any required preparation should be included in the agreed scope.
Can you replace or extend a driveway?
BARTEC can discuss replacing an existing driveway or creating more usable parking space. What is practical will depend on the property, available space and site conditions.
Can outdoor work take place during winter?
The suitability of winter work depends on the task, weather and ground conditions. Discuss timing with BARTEC so the programme can account for the practical requirements of the project.
Building and home improvements
Do you undertake kitchen and bathroom renovations?
BARTEC’s project portfolio includes kitchen and bathroom renovations. Send photographs and a description of what you want to change to discuss the scope of your project.
Can you help with a garage conversion?
Garage conversions are among the home-improvement projects BARTEC can discuss. Share how you would like to use the space so the requirements and suitability of the work can be considered.
Do you handle every part of a home-improvement project?
The responsibilities and work included depend on the project. BARTEC will explain the proposed scope so it is clear what is included and whether anything needs to be arranged separately.
Can work be carried out while we are living at home?
This depends on the rooms affected and the work involved. Discuss access, disruption and day-to-day arrangements before work begins so you understand what to expect.
